Ever Notice.

By Wali
Ever notice when you buy a new jacket it seems like everybody is wearing the same jacket? Ever notice a pregnant woman and it seems like for the rest of the day you see pregnant women all over the place? Ever notice if you have injured yourself in some way, you see a lot of people suffering the same injury?

They are not coincidences or lucky chances that you have noticed those things. It is that you allow your mind to be so occupied and focused on your new jacket or the pregnant woman or that painful injury to the point that that is all you seem to see. It is like putting blinders on your thoughts.

That is what needs to happen when you are gong for your dreams, goals or desires. You need to allow your mind to be occupied and focused on what you want and soon that will be all that you see.

You have all the tools necessary for you to succeed.

You really do.

What You Know Already.

By Wali
This you can do.
TNT = Today Not Tomorrow.
The choice is yours.
Almost there.
Why not you?
Lazy is expensive.
You've surprised yourself once, now do it again.
Do not settle.
This is your life.
Time to choose a new road.
At least try.
You have all that you need to get yourself through.
Stay focused and on course.
Do not look back.
If you don't believe it, no one else will.
Breathe.
You are worthy of it all and more.
You know everything is going to be allright.
You can always go back. But why?

The Tin Man Needed Nothing

By Wali
The movie The Wizard of Oz is the perfect metaphor for our lives. We waste a lot of time and energy searching for what we already have. People do not believe they have what it takes to reach their goals. People think that they need someone who is "wiser" to tell them what they are missing. But a lot of times those "wiser" people turn out to be just like the wizard of oz. Who wasn't a wizard at all. He was just some regular guy with his own problems.
So stop wasting time looking for what you already possess. Know that you have a brain that is always thinking. You have the heart that confirms you have passion. You truly have more than enough courage to get you through. So all you need to do is click your heels and get to that place you call home.

Relax By Miss Dunn

By Wali

I remember when I was in first grade my teacher Miss Dunn had us do this exercise. She would have us all close our eyes, and listen and tell her what we heard. One at a time someone would say, “The birds”. She would ask, “Can everyone hear the birds?” The class would answer, “Yes”. Then someone would say, “The leaves in the trees moving from the wind”. We all heard that too. It got to a point where someone would say, “I hear myself breathe.” Once we all agreed that we could hear our own individual breaths, she then would have us open our eyes and she would begin teaching us math, spelling or what have you.

This woman was a genius. She made a game out of meditating. She was able to get a group of highly energized 6 year olds to a relaxed place so that our minds were clear from distractions and we could soak up all that she wanted to teach us.

If you are feeling crazed, this is the easiest way to relax and to clear your mind from stress or any unnecessary distractions.

Close your eyes.

Listen to what you hear.

Say what you hear.

Once you get to the point where you can hear yourself breathe, you will be relaxed and that stress and those distractions will not exist.

Try it...

Phrase Of Failure

By Wali

There is this memorable saying which is called Murphy's Law. It states: "Anything that can go wrong, will go wrong."

What a bunch of negative crap. People use that phrase to stop them from going for their dreams. It's all in what you believe. If you believe in this "law" then nothing will go right for you, because when you pursue anything, you will be focused on things to go wrong and not seeing the fact that things can and will go right.

So today, I challenge that skeptical depressing adage with my positively motivating proverb. I am officially calling it, Wali's Law. And it states: "Anything that can go right, will go right."

Friends?

By Wali

A very good way to get a gauge of how your life is going is to take a look at the people you hang out with. There is a lot of truth to the phrase "like minded people". We find ourselves to be around people who think just like we do. Are your friends ambitious or are they slackers? Do your friends see the positive things in the world or do they complain about how everything sucks? Are your friends supportive with your endeavors or do they seem to find a way to crush your dreams?

Every friend you have is a reflection of different parts of your personality.

Getting to your goal might mean changing your attitude towards life and might even mean changing the people involved in your life too.

Good Enough

By Wali

Would you trust a doctor that's known for doing a just a good enough job? Or would you pay a mechanic top dollar to fix your car and his work is just good enough? How about if your bank couldn't give you an exact balance only a good enough guess? You know that that is unacceptable and you would not allow it. Never settle for good enough, only be satisfied with the best.

And that goes for you too. Good enough should never represent the work you do. One of the worst feelings is walking away from a challenge and knowing you could have done better. You deserve to do your best.

One of the best feelings to have after you've done your best is that you know you did your best and the best is the best you can do.

Stop Flirting With Your Dreams

By Wali
Nobody likes a tease.

You know you do it. Play around in your mind that your dream is going to happen. Maybe even imagine yourself reaching your goal. Knowing that you have no intention to see it through. That’s mean and cruel punishment to you. Sooner or later as we all do with teasers, we call their bluff. Asking, are we going to do this or not? This is where you had enough with just dreaming and you’re going to have to make that decision. Are you going to at least try to go for your dream or realize the fact that the closest you’re going to get to your dream is when you dream about it?

Nothing Like Warm Sweat Socks...

By Wali
I think I was about 18 or 19 when I was stressing about my life. My GP, short for grandpop, asked me what's the matter. I told him I got college exam issues, girl friend problems and my best friend JD (my dog) died. He told me to sit in the living room and take off my shoes and socks and close my eyes. So with a little chuckle in my voice I said, "Ok". About 2 minutes later, he puts these warm sweat socks on my feet and he said, "Now just breathe." Oh my God. I could not believe what was going on. I immediately stopped stressing. Maybe because I was tripping on how relaxing these warm sweat socks were. I'm telling you, there is some real therapy involved in putting on warm sweat socks.
I still do it today. When I want to let my mind go on a mini vacation, I pull out a pair of sweat socks (the newer the better) from my drawer. Throw them into the dryer or oven, yes oven, for a quick minute, lay down on my couch, put on those nice, clean, soft, comfortable, understanding foot sleeves, I close my eyes and just breathe.
Try it. Y'NEVANO, it may even help you fall asleep.

Message from Haiti...

By Wali
My heart goes out to all the survivors in Haiti. And those people trying to cope with a loved one who has died or is still missing. I can only imagine the pain of me losing that special someone without warning.
But maybe this is a reminder for the rest of us to take a quick minute to phone, text, email or twitter our special "someones"  how important he or she or they really are in our lives.
In other words, don't be afraid to tell them how you feel because, Y'NEVANO.
