What’s the Difference between Believing and Knowing?...

By Wali
This is an easy one.
Would you want to believe you've won the lottery or want to you know you've won the lottery? There's a bridge of uncertainty involved when it comes to believing but, you are standing on solid ground when you are knowing.
Try this. The reason why we wear seat belts is that we believe we could be in an accident because, we know if we are, it won't be a good thing. Ever hear about athletes being in the "zone" and that's how they won the game? That’s because they already know they won even before the game started. That's the kind of thinking you need when you make that decision to change your life for the better.
Believing that you are going to reach your goal aint gonna cut it. You got to know it.
Y'NEVANO how strong you can be.

Principle of "JUMP"...

By Wali
Isn't it interesting, for in order to jump, which will bring you to a higher plain, you have to lower yourself first?

To jump successfully you must follow these simple steps:
Step 1: Bend your knees. This collects energy for your jump.
Step 2: Quickly push your body up springing off of your feet.

I use that analogy when people tell me they want to better themselves. Usually to better yourself in a career or sports or a change in lifestyle you need some kind of education or training.
Ok, so the first thing you need to do is look to see where or how far you need to jump. Next, you get knowledge, information, education or the training necessary. It may seem like you're pulling yourself away from your goal. But on the contrary, this is considered the bending at the knees part. You are collecting the energy needed for your jump. And then when you feel you have acquired all the necessary tools, you make that jump by pushing yourself into that new world.
Look. There is no other way to jump. You have to follow that rule to get up there. The cool thing about it is Y'NEVANO how high you can go.

A left instead...

By Wali

It was a relatively nice day here in New York City. So I figure I'd start my day a little bit earlier by going the long way to the subway. Instead of the right turn as soon as I leave the building, like I've been doing for the past 4 years, I decided to take a left turn. I have to admit, just by going in the opposite direction gave me a sense of freedom.
And so, with this liberating feeling, it seemed like everything was new to me. I noticed children playing across the street. I realized that there weren't as many cars passing on the road. I was even saying, "Hello" or "Good morning" or "Nice day, huh?" to the people I passed by.
And then, I saw a new bakery and they sold my favorite of all things to eat, chocolate chip cookies! I bought 2 cookies and enjoyed them as I finished my journey to the A train.
This story isn’t just about the children or the lack of cars or even the cookies.
It’s about that feeling I felt while noticing those things. It was just by simply deciding and taking that left turn.

Y'NEVANO unless you try.

Prevention is the best Health Plan...

By Wali
Why do we ignore the little reminders for staying in good health?
The doctors tell us to eat more fruits and vegetables. It's recommended to take the stairs not the escalator when possible. Adults are told to take an extra 2 minutes in the shower to check for any unfamiliar lumps or bumps because, early detection of testicular or breast cancer is important. Don't smoke cigarettes. Even the dentist tells us to floss everyday. Why? So our teeth don't fall out of our heads.
It's been proven and we all know this as a fact that if we do these SIMPLE things (I can't stress SIMPLE enough) chances are we will live a lot longer to enjoy time with friends, family and American Idol.
Remember, being lazy is very expensive.
Y'NEVANO how far good health can take you.

Too old? Shut up!

By Wali
"I can't because, I'm too old".  To that I say, SHUT UP!
That isn't a good enough reason to stop you from going for your dream. Oh sure, younger people have resiliency when they make a mistake. They have that ability to pop right back up when they fall. But there's a certain kind of belief or faith in older people that only comes with age.

George Foreman won the WBC heavy weight  championship at 45.

Maria del Carmen Bousada was 66 years old when she gave birth to twins.

At 42, Rodney Dangerfield quit his job as a paint salesman to become a stand up comedian.

Great-great grandmother Gustava Bennett Burrus got her high school diploma at the age of 97.

Hugh Hefner is 84 years old and is still a Play "boy".

So if you think you're over the hill to pursue your dream just go to Google, and type in the search box "The oldest to" and read the results. Let those people motivate you to go for yours. Y'NEVANO how great the experience will be unless you try.

Children...

By Wali
Who would've thought the youngest boy of four children, would grow up to be the leading force in getting his country's independence. That's right, Gandhi has inspired so many people. People including the likes of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
Who would've thought a little girl who was abused by her step grand parents would grow up to be the first female millionaire TV executive. Not Oprah. It was Lucille Ball. She made us all laugh however, she was a incredible business woman too.
Here's my point. The man who invented pasteurization was a child. The first brain surgeon was a child. Even your favorite teacher from elementary school was a child. So be careful what you say or do to those little snotty nose, noise making, disobedient young people. For he or she could be the one who invents gas-less cars or finds the key to world peace or ends cancer. Think about it, Y'NEVANO.

So Many Women to Choose From?

By Derrick
Women often asked me, "where can I find a good, real, honest  man?  Let's take a look at some facts? To every 100 black men, 21 percent have no high school diploma, 17 percent unemployed and those between the age of 25-35, 8 percent are incarcerated. This numbers do account for the men who are interested in other men and the one's who are married!

Let's just say, things look challenging for black women today. There is something I want to share with all the women reading this blog , "With so many single black women to choose from(42 percent of all black women have never been married) , some men are not interested in being in a committed relationship. They rather try to sleep with as many women as possible than to be in one monogamous relationship. So, what can you do?

Asked the man you are interested in what is his intention with you early so that you do not become a statistic. And, be happy being single! God is great at putting us in positions to be great, Just wait your turn!

Message from Haiti...

By Wali
My heart goes out to all the survivors in Haiti. And those people trying to cope with a loved one who has died or is still missing. I can only imagine the pain of me losing that special someone without warning.
But maybe this is a reminder for the rest of us to take a quick minute to phone, text, email or twitter our special "someones"  how important he or she or they really are in our lives.
In other words, don't be afraid to tell them how you feel because, Y'NEVANO.

Facebook Affairs: Hot and Heavy!

By Derrick
If you goggle facebook divorce, you will see more than 20 million search results! Facebook is suppose to be about finding new friends or connecting with old friends? It is rapidly becoming a BIG reason for couples to head down divorce ally.  I have seen messages between two people that could be seen as sexual chatter or SMS-Social Media Sex.  Spouses are looking daily at their mates pages to see if there is any inappropriate texting. Are spouses insecure? Is this type of flirting a symptom of what is already happening in the marriage?

Heres the question? Is facebook the reason for divorce?

What do you think?

SMS: Social Media Sex

By Derrick
Me and a dear friend of mine have been looking at profiles of men who have indicated that they are in a relationship but are having very subtle flirtatous conversations with women.  If you are in a relationship or married, should your man be having flirty conversation with other women?  What would you do if your man was sending flirtatous messages to a friend on his facebook page?
